Maximizer
Multi-band Compressor

The Maximizer is essentially a multi-band compressor which can be used to raise the volume of the track.
With careful use, an increase in volume can be achieved without significantly altering its sonic characteristics. However, over enthusiastic use will destroy the dynamics of the Mix. Ultimately use your ears to determine what is best for your material.

The basic configuration is shown below:

The Input signal enters the Maximizer where Gain is applied.
The signal is then split into 3 bands, each band is then processed by a compressor, more gain and a limiter.
The 3 bands are then recombined with more gain and limiting.

Input Meters, Band Meters and an Output Meter are available to aid setting the appropriate parameters.
The Input Meters are placed in each band before the Compressors. The Output and Band Meters are placed just in front of the Limiters, so Limiter activity can be detected.

In the example above, the signal is:

1. Amplified by 4dB
2. Split into 3 bands of: Low Band - Mid Band - High Band
3. Each band is individually Compressed
4. The High Band only then has 3dB of Gain applied
5. Each of the 3 bands is limited to prevent excursions above 0 dB
6. The 3 bands are then summed back together
7. Output Gain of -1.0dB is applied
8. The output is limited to prevent excursions above 0 dB
