Water Management in the Lake District

A quote from the United Utilities web-site:

"Thirlmere in the heart of the Lake District, between Grasmere and Keswick, Thirlmere is nature at it's stunning best."

I will have to get myself a pair of those rose-tinted sunglasses that the National Park Authority and United Utilities wear. My eyesight is clearly distorting the reality, the spooky thing is my camera captures what I see and not the "gem that is Thirlmere".
